WEIGHT LOSS can be sped up by following a keto diet plan, also known as the ketogenic diet. But how do you stay full while following this plan? Nutritionist Jenna Hope recommends one particular food which will help you.

Following a keto diet plan, also known as the ketogenic diet, is for many a quick and effective method to lose weight.

The keto diet plan involves eating high fat, moderate protein and low carbohydrate foods.
Eating this way puts your body into a state of ketosis, a natural process by which the body burns fat.
For those dedicated to following this diet, there is one food that will help you to stay full.

Eating eggs will help you stave off hunger on a keto diet, nutritionist Jenna Hope explained.

She said: “Eggs are high in protein and healthy fats which take longer to break down and digest therefore keeping you fuller for longer.

“Research suggests that protein helps to regulate hunger levels and food intake by increasing the thermic effect of feeding (the amount of energy required to breakdown and utilise food).

“Therefore eggs have been shown to stabilise and control hunger levels.

Bored of eggs? Jenna also recommended some other foods to keep you full on a keto diet.

Foods to eat on a keto diet

  • Greek yoghurt sprinkled with cinnamon. Cinnamon helps to control blood sugar which can help to eliminate some of the cravings you may experience on a keto diet.
  • Avocado – not only does it count towards one of your 5 a day it’s also high in fibre (around 7g per 100g) which can be difficult to obtain on a keto diet and is essential for gut health. 1/2 an avocado can be added to breakfast, salads or even make for a great afternoon snack.
  • Coconut – whilst coconut is low in carbohydrates it is slightly sweeter in taste making it a perfect keto snack. It’s high in healthy fats to keep you full.
  • Tofu – this is a great option for vegans on a keto diet as the keto diet is often based heaviy around animal products. Tofu is high in protein which again will keep you full. Tofu can be scrambled for breakfast or thrown into a stirfry for lunch or dinner.
